Port Isaac in North Cornwall

Port Isaac in North Cornwall is centred on the harbour and harbour front,  known as ‘The Platt’. The fishing boats bobbing in the sea, the harbour breakwater and the white washed cottages, all seem familiar as the setting for the successful Doc Martin ITV series starring Martin Clunes set in Portwenn and filmed in Port Isaac.

Port Isaac has the image of an old Cornish fishing village with lobster pots and fishing nets, fresh sea food, individual shops and restaurants. This quaint image of Port Isaac is combined with an active core as a fishing port.

Picturesque coastal walks leading up the cliffs away from the village in both directions, along the famous South West Coastal Footpath. Heading south towards Port Quinn and onto Pentire Point and ‘surfing capital’ Polzeath. Or heading north a short walk to Port Gavern and further along Trebarwith Strand and then historic Tintagel.

With several restaurants in the village, Port Isaac offers choices for eating out from a Cornish Pasty snack to Cornish afternoon teas to full restaurant dining. Choose a location overlooking the sea and you may see seals and dolphins bobbing in the waters as you enjoy your refreshments at The Edge Restaurant, set on the cliff top above the sea with panoramic views. For those walking the Cornish Coastal Path, The Edge is along side the path, either a starting point before walking or a welcome stop after an energetic climb.
